Amy-After having my second son, I was really looking for an exercise program that was convenient and gave me the best of both worlds; cardio and strength training. I am not cut out for the gym; I wouldn’t even know where to begin. That is when I tagged along with a girlfriend to a Jazzercise class. Although the first few classes I felt like I had two left feet, it took no time to catch on. It was so upbeata nd the music was awesome! I was absolutely hooked! I never thought that working out could be so much fun! It became part of my daily routine. My two little ones came with me and it just fit perfect into my life! I dropped all my baby weight (and then some), but not only that, I felt better about myself and still do. I am the strongest I’ve ever been and not to mention the mental aspect of it…I just feel like I’m a better mom to my kids. Because of my passion, I became a Certified Jazzercise Instructor on May 15, 2008, almost one year from the date I started!
Donna-I’ve been involved with Jazzercise since 1994 both as a student and class owner. The Jazzercise program has worked for me and I know it can work for you. After giving birth to twins in 1993, I had that last 15 pounds of stubborn baby weight that would not come off. A friend actually suggested taking a fitness class. We found a Jazzercise class in our local town and even though my friend never came that evening I decided to give it a try. Three months later, I was asking how I could teach it to others. I’m passionate about this program because it works. When people ask me to describe Jazzercise, I tell them, “It’s like dancing with your friends for an hour.” If you like to dance and move, this is the program for you. And if you’re not the most coordinated person in the world, this is a program you can feel successful with. We always offer both high and low impact, easy to follow moves for each routine. You don’t memorize anything, just follow the leader. No one cares what you wear either – I loved that part. Being a stay at home mom didn’t afford me the budget to buy fancy workout wear I saw at some of the gyms. A good supportive athletic shoe is your biggest investment. Wear clothing that doesn’t restrict your movements and bring your sense of humor. We’ll do the rest. My biggest reward in this business is when that student who initially came in my door- ashamed of his/her body-is ready to bare some upper arms or wear shorts because they finally feel their body responding positively to a workout program. If you are willing to dedicate yourself to an hour two to three times a week, today’s your day – come in and let us show you what Jazzercise can do for you!
Jan-I first tried Jazzercise in September 1999. I originally went to the class to support Rene’ when she first opened classes in the Middletown area. I was hooked from the first class!!! Of course I was happy to finally find an exercise program that I liked, but mostly I really enjoyed the social interaction. Being a stay at home mom with two young boys didn’t allow me much time to focus on myself or hang out with other adults too often, so Jazzercise provided that opportunity. By that spring, Rene’ approached me with an offer I couldn’t refuse….. help her expand her classes by becoming an instructor.I was certified in September 2000 and have enjoyed every minute of it!!! Jazzercise is a total release for me; mentally, physically and emotionally. It is one hour devoted to improving my health as well as those that are in the class. It has allowed me the flexibility I need to schedule my classes around my boys’ activities and yet still have a rewarding job. I am especially happy to be able to apply my college education as a Leisure Studies (recreation) major with collaterals in Education and Dance. I also completed many business courses in college, so for the few years that I was a Class Owner, I was able to apply that knowledge as well. I am so happy to be an associate at the Middletown Jazzercise Fitness Center! My goal is to offer a fun, invigorating class every time and to make exercise enjoyable. I also strive to help each and every Jazzercise participant achieve some level of success, whether that is toning up, losing weight, perfecting a specific dance move or even just to have some fun.
Leanne-Owner of the Middletown Jazzercise Fitness Center and Certified Jazzercise Instructor. In October of 1991 a friend of mine shared with me that she LOVED her exercise program. I asked her why and she said that she got a GREAT workout and had tons of FUN at the same time. I found that hard to believe. Who has fun while they exercise? I had to see this for myself, so I agreed to come with her to an evening class. I had worked all day and was dog tired, but when the class ended I felt like I could run a marathon! It was a BLAST! I didn’t know the steps, but that didn’t matter one bit. The instructor was friendly and energetic and made me feel like a part of the group and she didn’t even know me. Well, I was hooked and have been a member of this very special group for the last 16yrs. The thing I love most about Jazzercise is that it meets the exercise needs for EVERY BODY. I have attended classes where there was a grandmother, her daughter AND her granddaughter all in the same class, each of them getting exactly what they needed from the workout. I personally do not know of another fitness program that caters to ALL individuals. Other programs seem to just cater to a gender group or a weight group or an age group. Jazzercise caters to everyone.I decided to become an instructor in the spring of 2007 simply because I LOVE the program. I enjoy meeting new people and I have been told that I have anendless supply of energy that should be shared with others. Please join me for a class and have a ton of fun while you workout, I promise it’s absolutely possible.
Michelle- I'm a new instructor at the Middletown Jazzercise Fitness Center. After I got married in 2000, I put on some weight, and going to the gym and using the treadmill just wasn't working for me. When my husband, Rob, and I moved to Hillsborough, NJ, I saw an advertisement for Jazzercise and decided to give it a try. Within a few months, I had lost some weight and I found a workout that I really enjoyed. Jazzercise was fun, social, and an excellent stress reliever.I wound up becoming a class manager and since I was attending 5-6 classes per week, I was really getting in shape. I actually weighed less now than I did in high school! Plus, Jazzercise became my social life because we would go out for dinners and get together for day trips on the
weekends. In 2003, I started training to become an instructor, but I developed plantar fasciitis and had to get foot surgery done on my heel. After that, I continued to do Jazzercise and work as a class manager until I got pregnant in 2006.When my family moved to Middletown, DE, I was thrilled to learn that a new Jazzercise center had just opened, so 6 weeks after my baby, Kaitlyn, was born, I started taking classes. Everyone at the center was so warm and welcoming. I enjoyed taking classes with all of the different instructors and I was pleased at how easily I lost the baby weight thanks to Jazzercise. Plus, with a new baby at home, it was wonderful to have some time for myself. After Donna approached me about becoming an instructor, I decided that this was the right time in my life to do it, so I went for it. Although training to become an instructor was quite challenging, it was worth it! As a new instructor, I am loving every minute of the classes I teach. It's just so much fun! Jazzercise really offers everything that I need in a workout. I enjoy the variety of routines and the great music. I appreciate that the center offers babysitting for Kaitlyn and everyone is so friendly at the center. It's fun, effective, relieves stress, and provides much needed ME time. I've been doing Jazzercise for 7 years now, and I'm glad that it's become such an important part of my life.
Shawana-My cousin invited me out to Middletown Jazzercise in the fall of 2009. I was a little reluctant as I had never worked out in a gym or in front of other people before. However, I knew I needed something more because I was getting bored with working out at home. By the end of December, I finally got up the nerve to visit Middletown Jazzercise. I was pleased with the facility, the staff and the class that was in session during my first visit. I attended my first class in January and fell in love with Jazzercise right away. I messed up quite a bit, but I laughed it off and kept on moving. It was fun and I kept coming back for more! In March of 2010, I was asked to become an instructor and I thought it was a joke! Obviously, Donna saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself at the time. Since I am one who values what others see in me, I moved forward with the process. My husband and my daughter also thought it was a great idea and encouraged me to proceed. I successfully completed Workshop in August of 2010! I thank God for the opportunity and the strength that He gives me to empower women to be healthy and fit. In addition to my new Jazzercise career, I have been teaching for 14 years. Currently, I teach 7th grade special education at Alfred G. Waters Middle School in Appoquinimink School District.
